1970 Ericson 35 – A Solid Cruiser with Great Potential

If you’re looking for a spacious, well-built cruising sailboat with good bones and room to make it your own, this 1970 Ericson 35 is well worth a look.

Owned and enjoyed by the same owner for the past 16 years, this classic 35-footer offers a solid foundation for someone looking to get into a larger cruising sailboat without breaking the bank.

One of her biggest selling points is her 2005 diesel engine with approximately 1,500 hours..

She’s a straightforward sailboat that would benefit from some attention and updating. The running rigging is likely due for replacement, the wind and knot instruments are currently inoperative, and the installed Espar diesel heater requires repair. However, for someone willing to tackle a few projects, there’s plenty of potential here.

On the maintenance side, she received fresh antifouling and new zincs in 2026, taking care of an important seasonal job.

Highlights:

• 2005 diesel engine with approximately 1,200 hours
• Same owner for the past 16 years
• Spacious 35-foot cruising sailboat
• Fresh antifouling and new zincs (2026)
• Espar diesel heater installed (currently inoperative)
• Classic Ericson design
• Great opportunity to update and personalize

This Ericson 35 isn’t pretending to be a fully refurbished yacht, but she offers something arguably more important: a good foundation, a relatively modern engine, and the opportunity to own a substantial cruising sailboat at an accessible price.

With some fresh running rigging and a little TLC, she could make a rewarding coastal cruiser for her next owner.
